Wrist and Hand
Steroid injections can treat a range of wrist and hand conditions from De Quervain’s and Trigger fingers to carpal Tunnel Syndrome and arthritis of the thumb and finger joints.
Steroid injections can be used to reduce inflammation in joints that are suffering from arthritis or joints that have been sprained and have continued to cause pain as the joint is a chronically inflamed state. Steroid injections are also useful around painful tendons of the wrist that are swollen due to overuse. Some of the conditions we treat with steroid injections are outlined below.
De Quervain's Tenosynovitis
De Quervain’s tenosynovitis is a painful inflammation of the tendons on the side of your wrist and thumb called the abductor pollicis longus (APL) and extensor pollicis brevis (EBP). These tendons are the ones that lift the thumb away from the hand.
