Types of Injections

Steroid Injection

Steroid injections are performed under ultrasound guidance with the aim of precisely depositing anti-inflammatory steroid and local anaesthetic to give pain relief and reducing inflammation.

Hyaluronic Acid Injection

Hyaluronic Acid injections are becoming increasingly popular for individuals with joint pain. The benefit of Hyaluronic Acid injection is that it has less harmful effects than cortisone to joint surfaces and tendons, and symptom relief can last a lot longer.

Hydrodistension (high volume) injection

Hydrodistension or High Volume injections are performed under ultrasound guidance with the aim of precisely depositing anti-inflammatory steroid, local anaesthetic and saline to give pain relief whilst also deliberately stretching the lining of the joint
(joint capsule).

Ultrasound-Guided Dry Needling

“Dry needling” is the process of inserting a hypodermic needle into the body without injecting any substance. Some clinicians also refer to using an acupuncture needle in a tight muscle for tension release as dry needling.

Aspiration

An aspiration is a procedure where we remove a small amount of fluid from an area like a joint using a needle under ultrasound guidance.

Arthrosamid Injections

Arthrosamid is a new type of injectable in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. It is a single injection made from a non-biodegradable hydrogel. Once injected, it stays in the knee for life, potentially giving long-lasting relief from knee pain.
